Frequently asked questions
Practical answers before you reach out.
If your question is not answered here, schedule online or contact the clinic directly. A short conversation is often the simplest way to sort out pricing or what to expect.
Questions patients commonly ask
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture uses very fine needles. Some insertions are barely noticed; others may feel like a quick pinch. During treatment, people may notice heaviness, warmth, tingling, or a dull ache. Tell Caleb right away if a sensation feels sharp or uncomfortable—needles can be adjusted or removed.
How long is an appointment?
Most treatment visits are planned around a 45-minute clinical session. A first visit may take longer because there is more history to discuss. Confirm the exact time reserved for you when scheduling.
How many treatments will I need?
There is no honest one-number answer. Frequency depends on the concern, how long it has been present, your overall health, and how you respond. Caleb will discuss an initial plan and reassess it as care progresses.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is helpful when possible. Depending on the points being used, you may be asked to adjust clothing or use appropriate draping in a private treatment room.
Should I eat before acupuncture?
Eat normally unless you have been given different instructions. Arriving very hungry can make some people feel lightheaded or uncomfortable.
Can acupuncture be used alongside conventional treatment?
Often, yes. Acupuncture may be part of a broader treatment plan and does not require abandoning conventional medical care. Keep your medical providers informed, and do not delay necessary evaluation, medication, emergency care, or other recommended treatment.
Do you accept insurance?
Not at this time. Mystic Mountain Healthcare is currently a cash-pay practice, and treatment visits are $85.
Do you offer Chinese herbal medicine?
Yes. Caleb may dispense individualized herbal formulas as granules or arrange an order through a third-party pharmacy. Herbal recommendations should be reviewed in the context of medications, allergies, pregnancy, and relevant medical conditions.
Do you offer electroacupuncture or E-Stim?
Yes. When clinically appropriate, Caleb may apply a gentle electrical current between selected acupuncture needles. The intensity is adjusted to comfort, and relevant precautions are reviewed before it is used.
What happens at the first appointment?
The visit begins with a detailed conversation about your main concern and other body systems that may help clarify the Chinese medicine pattern. Caleb will explain the proposed treatment before beginning. Treatment may include acupuncture and, when appropriate, an adjunctive technique.
